Andrea Romaldi writes in her essay Master Class: Dramaturgy and New Play Development, “In following the emotional life of the play, a dramaturge can often point to clues in the text that hint at a playwright’s deeper obsession, the moral or metaphysical question lying unacknowledged in the heart of the writing.”
As a New Play Dramaturg, I will help you, the playwright, find and unlock the more profound meaning of your play while assisting you with developing the aesthetics of the play from the first draft to production. With my experience as an MFA graduate, I have taken an intensive course to enhance my skills in New Play Dramaturgy from Working Title Playwrights in 2022.
Evaluation
A total of five-hour of review
Three hours to read a play and write notes on the play based on Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Process
Two hours of in-person or via Zoom conversation
